Camera References

We really liked the tight framing for this video. By putting all the band members close together during the performance the video creates a sense of claustrophobia and by making sure that most performance shots contain multiple band members it emphasises the band, removing focus from the front man. While we do not want to create a sense of claustrophobia, we do want our band to seem cohesive and so we wish to try and include multiple band members in most of our performance shots.

We really like the camera movement in this video. By using a lot of sweeping movements the performance becomes very striking and by changing the speed of the camera movement mid-shot this video makes sure that the audience are always engaged with the performance. We hope to use such movements in our video so that our performance remains interesting throughout.

The camera movement in this video is very engaging. Similarly to the figure it out video, Decode uses a lot of pans in order to engage the audience in the band. However this video juxtaposes these pans with still shots from interesting angles (such as a shot of the lead singer from a high angle and shots of the guitar from a low angle) as well as a recurring use of a contra-zoom shot on the lead singer. While we do not think that a contra-zoom shoot would suit our video, the use of still high and low angles in order to juxtapose the panning shots is something which we could try to do in our music video.

This video uses some of the pans used in previous videos however many of these shots are also handheld, which creates an exciting performance. We hope that we may be able to use handheld camera work to the same effect in our shoot.

This video uses a lot of handheld camera work, with a lot of zooming in on the band members. This creates makes for a more interesting video, and fits with the casual style of the music. We think that we can use camera work like this in our music video as it would make our video more engaging.
